BIO
Pat Brown Jr is an acclaimed Australian country music artist whose journey has been marked by artistic discovery and an unwavering passion for music. Growing up in the charming seaside town of Woolgoolga, New South Wales, Pat was immersed in a diverse range of musical influences from a young age. This rich tapestry of sounds has played a pivotal role in shaping his unique musical style, and he continually strives to bring something fresh and distinctive to his fans.
At just 12 years old, Pat Brown Jr was discovered by the legendary Australian bush balladeer Brian Young, an encounter that would reshape his musical trajectory. Under Brian's mentorship, Pat had the incredible opportunity to rub shoulders with his heroes in the country music industry, gaining invaluable insights and experiences that ignited his passion for performance. Brian recognised Pat's immense talent and had grand plans for him to tour alongside him, promising to introduce him to the vibrant world of live music. Unfortunately, by the time Pat was old enough to embark on the road, Brian's health had declined, preventing him from travelling. This pivotal moment, while bittersweet, fuelled Pat's determination to honour Brian’s legacy and pursue his own path in the music industry.
With a profound love for his country, Pat began his musical career with small performances that helped build his confidence. His dedication and talent quickly shone through, leading him to win numerous contests across eastern Australia. Notably, he was a runner-up in the formerly prestigious Bush Balladeers Star Quest and clinched multiple awards, including the overall male title in the CCMA's winter talent quest held during the Tamworth Hats Off to Country Music Festival. In 2007, Pat reached new heights when he won the Aussie Bush Idol at The Man From Snowy River Festival in Corryong, Victoria, which inspired him to explore the country he celebrated through his music. Though an introvert at heart, he found his voice through performance, gradually coming out of his shell.
After achieving success in Australia, Pat took a break from music to travel internationally, which deepened his appreciation for traditional pop standards. The onset of his comeback to Australian Country Music came during the Bungendore Country Muster, where he won the inaugural Track to Tomorrow Award and was voted the most popular artist for three consecutive years.
With the support of Kross Kut Records, Pat released his first single, “Those Mountains of Mine,” featuring his mentor and friend Charley Boyter on lead guitar. The following year, thanks to the unwavering efforts of Lindsay Waddington, Pat received exciting news from Kross Kut – he was up for an award. After making the journey back down to Bungendore following the Tamworth Country Music Festival, he proudly accepted the Best New Talent Award and the Stan Coster Memorial Award.
These awards held a special significance for Pat, as they commemorate Stan Coster, a fellow Woolgoolga native who greatly influenced Pat's musical journey. Pat spent countless hours listening to stories from his great uncle Bob about his memories and experiences growing up with Stan, ultimately shaping the narrative threads in Pat's own music.
There’s much more to Pat’s story, and countless individuals have helped him along the way. He believes that the best way to honor their support is to stay focused and strive for success. Fast forward to 2019, which marked a significant milestone with the release of Pat's debut album, "Get Along." Collaboration with talented musicians and the invaluable guidance of Michael Vidale allowed Pat to create a heartfelt tribute to the music that inspired him from the beginning, featuring songs that tell the stories of Australia, along with original tracks co-written with renowned Australian Bush Balladeers.
Despite initial success, the outbreak of COVID-19 has posed challenges for live performances and promotion. Now residing in Montreal, Canada, Pat is eager to hit the road and reconnect with audiences everywhere. His mission remains clear: to unite people with the universal language of music and to share his love for Australia and its rich musical heritage.
Thank you for joining Pat on this incredible journey, and stay tuned for exciting updates and upcoming performances!
